For queries, write to: learningatimpri@gmail.com About In India, Amrit Kaal (literally the nectar period regarded as auspicious for pursuing ambitious goals) refers to the period 2022 to 2047, when India would have completed 100 years of independence. In the 21st century, being literate in the nuances of public policies involving both the domestic and international aspects has become essential for informed participation for all the stakeholders in India. However, the domestic and international environment is becoming increasingly complex and volatile as India charts its course to become a developed nation by the end of Amrit Kaal in 2047. This course is specially designed to impart relevant analytical concepts and skills to the participant concerning various elements of India’s public policies in a coherent manner. The resource persons have been carefully selected to provide a high level of expertise to be delivered with nuance and balance. Topics range from enhancing competence in public financial management, designing public policies to achieve citizen-centric outcomes, science, technology, and public policy, judicial and police reforms, managing India’s urbanization, balancing environment goals with other goals, and implications of India’s demographic trends for pension and health care, and others. A novel feature of the program is the thematic sessions on selected public policy issues and the last session on discussing the main messages arising from the course. Unknowingly and knowingly, public policy interacts and intervenes in all of our lives. Understanding policy becomes convoluted because it operates in such a vast realm; this course aims to declutter it by expounding public policy’s warrants, caveats, and numerous facets. Emphasizing the impact of policies on the stakeholders, its intended and unintended consequences, and analysis thereof. This course goes a step further from the introductory level into the contours of public policy in India and its warrant, caveats, facets, and its impact. In this one month, participants will gain a unique understanding of the complex challenges of contemporary governance from a variety of perspectives, such as economics and agriculture, foreign policy, urban management and policy, climate change, environmental policy, and disaster management, the role of media and civil society, and contemporary threads such as feminism in policy making. This provides the tools and know-how to comprehend and handle India’s critical public policy issues. This course will be conducted by expert resource persons comprising civil servants, politicians, civil society activists, professionals, and academics. The course hopes to deliver expanded thinking and enhanced understanding to be able to make formidable contributions to public policy.
