Climate change has moved from the margins of environmental policy to the centre of economic planning, public finance and governance. India has made ambitious commitments: net-zero emissions by 2070, a 45 per cent reduction in the emissions intensity of GDP by 2030 from 2005 levels, and around half of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil sources by 2030. Yet the distance between pledge and practice remains wide. Heatwaves, floods and water stress are intensifying faster than adaptation plans are implemented. Climate finance falls short of what developing countries need, and environmental safeguards are often tested by the pace of infrastructure growth. Turning commitments into outcomes requires more than targets. It demands institutional capacity, regulatory clarity, fiscal planning, credible measurement and clear lines of accountability across national, state and local governments.

The IMPRI Center for Environment, Climate Change, and Sustainable Development (CECCSD), IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute, New Delhi, presents a Three-Day Immersive Online Certificate Training Program on Environmental Policy & Climate Action under the flagship #WebPolicyLearning. Held in the wake of COP31 in Antalya, the program follows climate commitments from global negotiations to domestic implementation. Delivered through six in-depth masterclasses led by former negotiators, Page 1 of 6From Pledges to Practice: Programme Page environmental lawyers, climate finance economists, energy policy specialists and senior administrators, it offers practical insight into how climate and environmental policy is made, financed, regulated and held to account.

This program is designed for professionals, scholars and practitioners who want to understand and shape how climate and environmental commitments are delivered. It is ideal for officials in central, state and municipal governments working on environment, energy, urban development, disaster management and planning, as well as legislative researchers, policy analysts and think-tank researchers working on climate and sustainability. It equally welcomes professionals in civil society organisations, NGOs and development agencies; lawyers and legal researchers in environmental law; corporate professionals in ESG, sustainability, CSR and climate risk; journalists covering environment and climate; and doctoral candidates, postgraduate students and academics in Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Economics, Law, Development Studies and Urban Planning..
