Prof Elias Hossain, Professor, Department of Economics, Rajshahi University, Bangladesh
Dr. Md. Elias Hossain is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He has been serving as the Director of the ‘Centre for Economic Studies (CES) of Rajshahi University as well. Dr. Hossain holds a Master (MSS) Degree in Economics from Rajshahi University, and a PhD Degree in Environmental Economics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He is a full time teacher as well as a researcher, and he contributes to development practices, being a consultant gathering a lot of experiences about socio-economic realities and problems of development.
He has about 80 publications to his credit in peer reviewed journals at home and abroad, including 3 books. Moreover, he has presented around 50 papers at different conferences and seminars in different countries, and published a good number of popular articles. He has guided 13 MPhil/PhD researchers and 25 Master students to complete their dissertations. Dr. Hossain is involved in a number of national and international projects. Presently, he is working as the Chief Editor of the ‘Rajshahi University Journal of Social Science and Business Studies’. His area of research specialization includes- Environmental Economics, Poverty and Food Security, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Women Empowerment, Livelihood of Marginalized and Indigenous people, Development Policy Applications, etc.
