About the Event
The Aravalis, one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, play a vital role in shaping the climate, biodiversity, and environment of Northern & Western India. But today, they face serious threats from rapid urbanization and unplanned development, leading to habitat loss and ecological damage.
As one of the oldest mountain systems in the world, the Aravalis play a crucial role in the ecology, climate, and biodiversity of northern India. However, rapid urbanization and unsustainable development—particularly in the built environment—have led to significant environmental degradation, habitat loss, and ecological imbalances.
The Aravalis Dialogue brings together environmentalists, policymakers, urban planners, researchers, architects, activists, students, and concerned citizens to explore key issues such as urban growth, environmental policies, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, grassroots action, and economic implications. The goal is to foster collaborative discussions and actionable solutions for sustainable development in the Aravalis. This inclusive platform provides an opportunity for diverse, dedicated sympathizers of the cause to engage in meaningful dialogue, influence policy, and contribute to on-ground impact through collective advocacy and action.
To address these concerns, the #AravalisDialogue invites a diverse group of people—environmentalists, researchers, policymakers, urban planners, architects, students, and citizens —to come together for discussions that matter.
Topics of focus include:
- Urban growth and ecological impact
- Biodiversity and conservation
- Climate resilience and sustainability
- Environmental policy and grassroots action
This is an opportunity to share ideas, build awareness, and shape real solutions for protecting the Aravalis through dialogue, collaboration, and community action.
This event is part of ‘Shodh Ganga on Wednesdays’, an initiative by the Social Science Cluster of the RDC at MRIIRS.
Let’s come together to protect the Aravalis and work towards a greener, more sustainable future.
