Prof Ashwani Kumar
Professor and Dean, School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai

Ashwani Kumar is a professor, policy researcher and presently dean of School of Development Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai). He has served as a member of ‘Central Employment Guarantee Council’ (CEGC, Govt of India). He is also author of ‘Community Warriors’ (Anthem Press; London), co-edited ‘Power Shifts & Global Governance’ (Anthem Press; London), one of the chief editors of ‘Global Civil Society: Poverty and Activism’ @ London School of Economics & he has recently co-edited ‘Migrants, Mobility and Ccitizenship in India’ (Routledge 2021).

He has been visiting fellow @ London School of Economics, German Development Institute (Bonn), Korea Development Institute (Seoul), University of Sussex (Brighton) among others. He is also a widely published author, columnist and Anglophone poet. He obtained his Ph.D. in political science from University of Oklahoma (USA).
