Dr Arvind KumarPresident and Founder, India Water Foundation, New Delhi

Dr. Arvind Kumar is an author, columnist, President Founder of India Water Foundation a non-profit organization and think tank and Governor at the World Water Council, Marsielle, France. With more than 20 years of experience he specializes in ecosystem-based adaptation, water-energy-food nexus, with specific emphasis on inter-linkages between water, environment, and SDGs. He is the member Technical Advisory Committee for India’s Second and Third National Communication and Biennial Update Reports to UNFCCC, member of the ‘National Wetlands Committee’, MoEF&CC, GOI.

He has been working specially in the North East region of the country. In Meghalaya as the Member of Meghalaya State Water Resources Council and Member of the State Council for Climate Change and Sustainable Development headed by CM, Meghalaya. In Sikkim, with the Government of Sikkim he is sharing key inputs in the field of water resources, Environment, Sustainable Development. Also member of the Global Partnership of Marine Litter of UNEP. Also, member Working Group on Water Resources Development New India @75, NITI Aayog, GOI, member of CAPART, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

He holds PhD in Defense Studies, has published over 400 research articles, blogs etc. Editor of online e-Magazine Focus Global Reporter. He is the lead author of   publication with SAC Dhaka titled “SAARC Outlook on Water-Energy-Food Nexus in SAARC Region” published in December 2015.  He was conferred with the 40th Matri shree Media Awards on 26th April 2015 for his outstanding contribution as journalist, Triveni Award for his contribution in the field of Environment and water in May 2015 and “Achievers Award” for his exemplary contribution and commitment for protecting environment by United Nations Information Centre for India & Bhutan in collaboration with India Eye international, human rights observer on the occasion of celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th, 2017 in New Delhi. Under his dynamic leadership for consecutive two years in a row IWF has been conferred with Water Digest Water Award in the category of Best NGO – Water Education 2017-18 and Best NGO – Water Sanitation in 2018-19.
