Amar Jesani is an independent researcher and teacher in bioethics and public health. He is a co-founder of the Forum for Medical Ethics Society and its journal, Indian Journal of Medical Ethics (www.ijme.in), published since 1993, and since 2012 its editor. He is a Visiting Professor at Yenepoya University, Mangalore (since 2011), the Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Culture, Karachi (since 2010) and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Nairobi (since 2017).
He is a Member of the International Ethics Review Board of the Medicine Sans Frontiers (MSF) and the National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy (NAC-SCRT) of the Government of India. He has co-authored and co-edited nine books – the last Co-edited with Purendra Prasad, titled Equity and Access: Healthcare Studies in India, Oxford University Press, 2018 Pg 418

Dr. Ravi Vaswani works as Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yenepoya Medical College in Mangalore since 17 years. He was the Founder Registrar of Yenepoya (deemed to be University) in 2008. Dr. Vaswani completed his MBBS from Nair Hospital, Mumbai in 1986 and MD Medicine from KLE University, Belgaum in 1996. He has special interest in infectious diseases with a personal focus on HIV Medicine and COVID-19. He has clinical and teaching experience of more than 2 decades.
Dr. Vaswani has personally treated and managed more than 3000 people living with HIV/AIDS. He has been a resource person for many “Training of Trainers” workshops in association with St. John’s Medical College where many primary care physicians, nurses and counselors received training in management of HIV in resource-limited settings. He has contributed to the compilation of WHO‘s Integrated Management of Adult Illness Manual (for Indian setting) and has contributed to the preparation of many factsheets on HIV. He is closely associated with Snehasadan, HIV/AIDS Care and Support Centre, Kaikamba where, for the last 17 years, he has been rendering healthcare service to people living with HIV.
Dr. Vaswani is the clinical COVID nodal officer at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital and has treated more than 600 COVID patients in his personal capacity, and has been supervising the management of more than 3000 COVID patients. He has organized several training workshops for doctors, nurses, hospital attenders and the lay public in COVID appropriate behaviour and basic COVID management. He is currently involved in a clinical trial and 3 academic research projects on COVID-19.
Besides his clinical work, Dr. Ravi Vaswani is also trained in and teaches bioethics, research ethics and clinical ethics.
