Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad
Ram Sathe Chair for International Studies, Symbiosis International University, Pune; Former Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE
Talmiz Ahmad served as Indian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE. He was Additional Secretary for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (2004-06) and Director General of the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi (2006-07). Following retirement for foreign servicve in 2011 and a four-year stint in the corporate sector in Dubai, he is now a full-time academic and holds the Ram Sathe Chair for International Studies, Symbiosis International University, Pune. He writes regularly on issues relating to political Islam, the politics of West Asia, Eurasia and the Indian Ocean, and energy security.

Professor AK Pasha teaches at the Centre for West Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where he has served as Chairperson and is now Director, Gulf Studies. He has also been Director, Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, Cairo, Egypt. He has authored, edited and co-edited and contributed chapters to over sixty books published in India and abroad on India, Gulf, West Asia and North Africa. His research articles have been published in numerous national and international journals. After graduating from St Philomena’s College, Mysore he obtained M.A. Degrees in Middle Eastern Studies and Political Science from Mysore University; M.Phil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has previously taught at the Centre of West Asian Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, India. He had been a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, Egypt. He is associated with Gulf Research Centre, Dubai, UAE. His research, teaching and writing focused on West Asia and North Africa. He is on the editorial board of several national and international journals. He is a frequent commentator/analyst on international affairs especially on West Asian and North African issues for Radio and TV in India and abroad.
