About

The UPLGYF Urban Policy & Local Governance Youth Fellowship is an online international summer school program organized by the IMPRI Center for Habitat, Urban and Regional Studies (CHURS). This distinctive six-week online immersive introductory leadership certificate training fellowship program is crafted to equip the youth with foundational skills and knowledge in urban policy and local governance. By merging theoretical underpinnings with practical insights, the fellowship aims to create a new generation of informed, capable, and visionary leaders in the domain of urban governance and policy-making.

The fellowship emphasizes a hands-on learning approach, offering participants the opportunity to engage with key issues affecting urban environments, from infrastructure development to social equity and environmental sustainability. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and collaborative projects, fellows gain a nuanced understanding of the complexities surrounding urban policy decisions and local governance mechanisms. The program also fosters networking among like-minded individuals and professionals, enabling participants to build lasting connections that can support their future initiatives and career growth.

Encompassing a curriculum that blends academic rigor with experiential learning, the UPLGYF endeavors to instill critical thinking, leadership, and strategic planning skills among participants. By the end of the fellowship, individuals are expected to emerge as empowered leaders, equipped with the tools and perspectives needed to contribute effectively to urban policy development and governance, thereby driving positive change in their communities and beyond.
