About
In today’s rapidly shifting socio-political climate, conversations around gender and sexual identities are more visible than ever—yet they remain fraught with resistance, exclusion, and systemic injustice. Despite some progress in recognizing the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community, structural barriers, sociocultural stigmas, and uneven legal protections continue to shape the lived realities of queer individuals across India and the world. From marginalization in public life to limited access to healthcare, education, and dignified work, the struggle for equality is far from over.
The One-Month Immersive Online Certificate Training Course, “Beyond Binaries: Cohort 3 – LGBTQIA+ Realities and Resistance,” creates a vital space to engage with the everyday experiences and ongoing acts of resistance within queer communities. This course invites participants to unpack the intersections of identity, power, and policy—examining how LGBTQIA+ individuals navigate, challenge, and transform the systems that marginalize them.
Addressing urgent issues such as legal invisibility, mental and reproductive health inequities, queerphobia in educational and professional spaces, and the politics of representation, the course centers voices of resistance as both a necessity and a form of collective strength. Grounded in intersectional feminist and social justice frameworks, it draws attention to the ways in which queer activism confronts oppression while imagining inclusive and liberatory futures.
Designed as an interactive and inclusive platform, the course will feature expert-led lectures, participatory discussions, film screenings, and lived-experience sharing. Facilitated by leading academics, legal experts, activists, and practitioners, it equips participants with critical perspectives and practical tools to engage in meaningful advocacy and systemic change.

This course is for anyone with a keen interest in Sexuality, Gender and Queer studies and issues. Working professionals, practitioners, civil society members, health workers, activists, researchers, post-graduate and undergraduate students, and those interested would benefit from this course.
