Trump 2.0 & New World Dis-Order: Implications for India is designed to critically examine the consequences of Donald Trump’s return to the U.S. presidency for global politics and India’s strategic calculus. Trump’s second term is marked by heightened protectionism, transactional diplomacy, and a recalibration of multilateral commitments—developments that have profound implications for trade, security, and governance worldwide.

This course traces the unraveling of the post-war global order through discussions on economic warfare, tariffs, and supply chain disruptions, while also analyzing how decoupling and new geoeconomic alignments are reshaping the political economy of global business. It explores how India is viewed through the American lens in this shifting context, and how lobbying, policy advocacy, and narrative building in Washington are becoming critical instruments of influence.

Beyond policy and strategy, the course also situates the Indian diaspora within Trump’s “America First” framework, examining both opportunities and risks in diaspora diplomacy. The concluding sessions focus on conflict management and pathways for sustaining and strengthening the Indo-U.S. partnership amidst frictions.
