Destroying Academic Autonomy

IIMC faculty are protesting the new code of conduct being imposed on them. Under the new rules there can be no protest or criticism, or petitions to higher authorities. With this, what autonomy will the faculty be left with? Delhi University faculties are currently discussing the implementation of the New Education Policies (NEP), one of whose key aspects is autonomy in institutions of higher learning. The key concern is if there is a systematic attempt to destroy academic autonomy?

Re-Imagining The Parliament: Annihilating Caste by 1111

Should we be content with the fact that Dr. Ambedkar has been posthumously awarded the ‘Bharat Ratna’ and that his portrait is hung on the wall of the Parliament? In fact what Dr. Ambedkar desired was the annihilation of Caste, and least his glorification. Has Dr. Ambedkar’s dream fulfilled? The article makes the argument to Re-Imagining The Parliament to annihilate caste via the 1111 campaign.

Building a Planet-Friendly Economy

To throw light upon this issue, the Center for Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CECCSD), IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute, New Delhi, and India Water Portal organized an IMPRI Special Lecture – #WebPolicyTalk on Building a Planet-friendly Economy, by Dr. R Balasubramanium, a development activist and leadership trainer who founded the Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement and the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM).

The discussion began with Prof Chandra, Professor and Head of Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Bangalore, and the Chair of the session, talking about the importance of creating services that are youth-friendly. She emphasized the need to realize how to help the youth who are otherwise physically healthy and feel that they do not need to seek help. In an effort to Working Towards a Positive Transformation as a response to the Mental Health woes of India’s Youth.
