About

The IMPRI Impact and Policy Research Institute Gender Impact Studies Center (GISC) is organising Gender and Mental Health – Cohort 4.0 under the #WebPolicyLearning initiative, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day (Oct 10th). This Three-Day Immersive Online Certificate Training Course will be held from 12–14 October 2026. The programme aims to encourage deeper understanding of the intersections between gender, wellbeing, and mental healthcare.

Mental health is deeply shaped by gender roles, social expectations, inequality, and lived experiences. Women, men, and gender-diverse persons often experience mental health challenges differently due to discrimination, violence, unpaid care burdens, economic stress, stigma, and unequal access to support systems. Issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, workplace stress, body image pressures, and the mental health impacts of exclusion remain widespread yet under-addressed. This winter school creates a space to critically examine these concerns through the lenses of gender justice, healthcare systems, policy, and society.

The program will bring together psychologists, doctors, researchers, legal experts, activists, and policymakers for engaging sessions on gendered mental health outcomes, trauma-informed care, workplace wellbeing, youth mental health, LGBTQIA+ mental health, community support systems, and inclusive policy responses. It offers participants valuable insights into advancing mental wellbeing through a gender-responsive approach.
