Mission for Cotton Productivity (2025-26)

In the 2025-26 Budget, cotton farmers, who suffer from low productivity, have been provided with a huge relief with the announcement of a five-year Cotton Productivity Mission. The Department of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE) is the Nodal Department, responsible for the implementation of the Mission.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while addressing a post-Budget webinar via video conferencing on “Regulatory, Investment and EODB (Ease of doing business) reforms”, stated that the government is committed to the simplification of regulatory processes and introduced the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0 to decriminalise over 100 legal provisions which are outdated to achieve greater ease of doing business in the country.

RUSA: Advancing Quality and Equity in Higher Education 

The Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan programme was started to raise the standard of higher education. Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan was a centrally sponsored scheme for upgrading state and union territory colleges. It covers government and government-aided institutions of the States and Union Territories. RUSA’s part one was launched in 2013, and RUSA 2.0 was launched in 2018. With the National Education Policy being introduced in 2020, the RUSA scheme has been renamed and transformed to Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA).
