The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), came into being on October 12, 1993, under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 is a statutory body responsible for the protection, promotion, and enforcement of human rights. It includes the right to life, liberty, equality, and dignity as provided under Part III of the Indian Constitution and international instruments such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
