Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra: India’s Premier Diaspora Engagement Hub

The Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra (PBK), currently called Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, is a pioneering institutional setup devised by the Government of India to enhance relations with the Indian diaspora across the globe. The Kendra is both a material expression of India's dedication to its diaspora and a platform of strategy for engaging the economic, social, and cultural resources of the estimated more than 28 million Indians living across the globe.

Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, enacted by the Indian Parliament on April 3, 2025, has emerged as a lightning rod for controversy, encapsulating the tensions between governance reform and minority rights in India’s diverse democracy. With waqf properties—valued at over ₹100,000 crore and spanning 940,000 acres—representing the third-largest landholding entity after Indian Railways and the Armed Forces, the bill’s stated aim is to enhance transparency and efficiency in their management.

Scholarship Scheme: National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)

A scholarship program initiated by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, offers 100,000 scholarships to outstanding or high-achieving students whose family income does not exceed ₹3,50,000/- annually from all sources at the time of selecting recipients for the scholarship. Each State or Union Territory has a designated allocation of scholarships for the relevant age demographic of students in classes 7 and 8.

SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds), is India's flagship program aimed at increasing access to education using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) launched by the Ministry of Education on 9th July, 2017. Inspired by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, SWAYAM aims to level up the field for learners from varied socio-economic backgrounds, geographic locations, and languages.
