One Nation One Fertilizer

The government issued an order requiring all businesses to market their goods under the brand name "Bharat" in order to standardize fertilizer brands across the nation. Under this scheme, all fertilizer companies will be manufacturing fertilizers under one brand name which will ensure uniformity and reduce confusion among farmers. The budget for fertilizer subsidies has been increased to 25% as compared to last year. This scheme will also ensure cost-effectiveness.

Supreme Court Decision on Demonetization

A flawed process led to erroneous policy which is counterproductive and which resulted in not only damage to democracy but to huge adverse impact on the public, especially the poor. The process by which a policy is arrived at, also determines the outcomes. Can it then be said that the process was legal, even if formally, so the achievement of the objectives does not matter? The Supreme Court’s majority judgment on demonetization is based primarily on the premise that demonetization had a `reasonable nexus’ with the objectives sought to be achieved.

National Education Policy and Indian Agricultural Universities

In India, state agricultural universities (SAUs) are mandated to cover teaching, research, and extension to promote new agricultural technologies and enhance farmers’ welfare. G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, the first SAU established in 1960 in Uttar Pradesh, oversaw agricultural teaching, research, and extension with a mandate to support agricultural and allied activities like animal husbandry and fisheries across the state.
