Anti-Doping Bill 2022

The National Anti-Doping Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on December 17 2021. After being referred to the Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports for recommendation on March 23 2022, the bill was finally passed in the lower house on July 22, 2022, and in the upper house on August 03, 2022.

GST and Its Failures: Explained

GST has been in operation since July 1, 2017. In the six years that have elapsed, has it fulfilled the promises that its proponents had vociferously claimed for it. It was billed as the second freedom since it was supposed to unify the `fragmented’ Indian market. That was the parallel drawn with 1947 which brought together the states to form India as a union of states.

GST Council’s Decision Could Kill India’s Online Gaming Industry

The decision of the GST Council to levy a GST of 28 percent on the entire turnover of online gaming is plain wrong. It is bad in principle, against settled jurisprudence, harms a burgeoning industry with enormous potential for jobs and innovation, and, most perversely, carries an inbuilt algorithm to depress overall tax collections. It should not stand.
