DAY-NRLM: Transforming Rural Livelihoods Through Women’s Empowerment 2017

The Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana : National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) is a flagship poverty alleviation program implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Launched in June 2011, it emerged as a restructured version of the erstwhile Swarnajayanti Grameen Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) (PIB, 2024; MyScheme, 2023).

Impactful Policy Research in Social Sciences (IMPRESS) 2018 

To revolutionize India's policy research space in the true sense, IMPRESS has to move beyond being a selective academic grant program to being an inclusive national knowledge production machine. As a young researcher, I envision the future of policy innovation occurring in open, diverse, and democratized research environments, not in hierarchical constraints. Visualizing IMPRESS in this way will not only establish it as a funding program, but as a driving force for India's intellectual and socio-economic balance. 

Social Security Scheme for Welfare of Online Platform Workers, 2025-26

According to the Niti Aayog report on India's booming gig and platform economy, by 2030, gig workers will constitute approximately 4.1% of India's total workforce, or around 23.5 crore people. Gig workers will now be eligible for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), which is the world’s largest health insurance scheme. Under the AB-PMJAY, the gig workers will be entitled to receive healthcare coverage which is not provided by their employer.

Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban: A critical analysis

The Swachh Bharat Mission is one of the largest sanitation missions led by the Government of India. It was launched by PM Modi on October 2, 2014, to honour Mahatma Gandhi on his 145th birth anniversary. The mission's goal was to provide basic sanitation facilities to every family, such as the construction of toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal, and ensuring a safe and adequate drinking water supply across the country. The Swachh Bharat Mission comprises two missions- Swachh Bharat Mission- Gramin (SBM-G) and Urban (SBM-U). This essay will focus on the Swachh Bharat Mission- Urban (SBM-U).

Neeranchal National Watershed Management Project (2016-2022)

The Government of India has supported the Neeranchal National Watershed Management Project from the World Bank. It is intended to improve watershed management practices across the rain-fed areas within India through increased agricultural productivity, improved water conservation, and improved rural livelihoods.
