I am a practicing lawyer in Bangalore. I work in the areas of Family law, criminal law, property matters, constitutional and administrative law matters, commercial and company law matters. I’m also PoSH consultant and help organisations in its compliance along with labour compliances as well.
I was a professional social worker before coming into law and have worked in the thematic areas of education, environment, life skills, livelihood and women’s rights & rural development. I have a total 15 years of work experience of working in the social sector and the legal fraternity.
To keep continue with my passionate contribution to the society, Bangalore Legal Aid is an NGO that I have formed 2 years ago that provides legal aid at a nominal cost to women and elderly citizens in distress.
I am an active contributor in the areas of elderly persons and women rights and their development. I’m associated with Global Concerns India, I’m Every Woman and Indian Christian Women’s Movement (Bengaluru Chapter).
I have presented a Research study report and paper on’ ‘Implementation & Effectiveness of Internal Committee as per PoSH Act of 2013 in security agencies in Bengaluru’ at World Congress on Women Held at Sir. J.N Tata Auditorium, IISc, Bengaluru on 08th September 2019.
I have Co-Authored a Chapter on poetess Kamla Das in the book ‘Interrogating Patriarchy’ published by Sophia Centre for Women’s Studies & Development, Mumbai in October 2018.
I have presented a Research paper titled ‘Exploring livelihood & support strategies for unpaid care work by Indian women’ at the ‘International Conference on Changing Contours of Women’s Paid and Unpaid Work’ held in July 2018 organised by School of Management and Labour Studies & School of Development Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
I have presented a Research Paper titled ‘Examining Marital Rape as a Crime in the Indian Context’ at the St. Claret College in March, 2018 at the National Conference on ‘A Multidimensional approach to Women Empowerment: Voice & Visibility’
I have completed my LLB from School of Legal Studies, CMR University (Bangalore), MA in Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy from SNDT Women’s University (Mumbai), MSc. in Environmental Sciences from Institute of Science (Government of Maharashtra), BSc. from Sophia Women’s College, Mumbai University.
