Post-Pahalgam, grey-zone warfare has been on full display, as Islamabad and Rawalpindi peddled fake narratives and carefully crafted a facade of innocence—attempting to mislead the world, especially the gullible Western audience—in the wake of heinous terrorist attacks and the killing of innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir by the Pakistan-based terrorist group, ‘The Resistance Front (TRF),’ an offshoot of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Overseas Workers Research Centre (OWRC), Migrant Resource Centres (MRC)   

India’s formal support for the migrant workers began under the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (now MEA). The Overseas Workers Resource Centre (OWRC) was launched in January 2008 (which was inaugurated on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas) as a 24/7 helpdesk for emigrant workers. This intervention was urgently needed due to the persistent systematic gaps and vulnerabilities in India’s pre-existing emigration framework, which has failed to adequately protect the low-skilled migrant workers and especially those heading to the Gulf Countries. Some of India’s broader emigration governance included the Legacy of Broker-Based Emigration (Pre-2000s), Weakness of the Emigration Act, 1983, and Inadequate Institutional Coordination pre-2000s.

A Critical Analysis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE)

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) was established in May 1998. Previously known as the Ministry of Welfare (1985–1998), MoSJE has a broader mandate for facilitating empowerment and social justice to the most marginalized sections of Indian society. This includes Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), persons with disabilities, senior citizens, victims of substance abuse, and the LGBTQ+ community (MoSJE, 2025).

Scholarship Scheme: National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS), 2008

National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme is a central sector scheme announced by the former Finance Minister, P Chidambaram, in the 2007-08 annual budget. The Ministry responsible for the scheme's functioning is the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education. This scheme provides scholarships to economically disadvantaged students to prevent dropouts after class VIII and encourage continued education.

The MIB, established post-independence, runs media platforms like Doordarshan and All India Radio, with the aim of reaching government policies to people. Its remit grew with digital media, introducing devices like the Press Sewa Portal and working on the Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill since 2023 to control content.
