Dr Fawzia Tarannum

Dr. Fawzia Tarannum is an accomplished professional in the field of water governance and sustainability and has made significant contributions to research, education, and community initiatives. Fawzia holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, complemented by a Master’s in Water and Sustainable Development from the prestigious IHE Delft Institute of Water Education and a PhD in Water Governance from the TERI School of Advanced Studies. Additionally, she completed a one-year Graduate Certificate course in water and sanitation governance from Cornell University. Fawzia has had a dynamic professional career. Her previous roles include serving as an Assistant Professor at the TERI School of Advanced Studies and holding the position of General Manager Marketing at Cleantec Infra Private Limited. Currently, she operates as a freelance water and sustainability consultant, leveraging her extensive knowledge and experience to provide valuable insights and solutions. She is a Co-Founder of the WforW Foundation and serves as a Strategic Advisor and Trustee at the Abhipsa Foundation. She also holds the position of National Coordinator for Water at The Climate Reality Project India and is an Invited Guest Faculty at Cornell University, contributing her expertise to the academic realm. Her commitment and contributions to sustainable development have earned her prestigious accolades, including the Fulbright Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship and the IDRC-University of Nairobi Doctoral Research Grant. Notably, she was recognized as one of the 17 SDGs Women Changemakers by Sayfty and Twitter India, highlighting her impact as a leader in the field. Fawzia’s research interests span various critical areas such as Integrated Water Resources Management, Gender, Equity and Water Management, Sustainable Urban Water Management, Enhancing Land and Water Productivity in Agriculture, Landscape Approach to Land Water Community Security, Blue-Green Intervention for Urban Flood Mitigation, and Resource Efficiency in Industry, among others.
