To revolutionize India's policy research space in the true sense, IMPRESS has to move beyond being a selective academic grant program to being an inclusive national knowledge production machine. As a young researcher, I envision the future of policy innovation occurring in open, diverse, and democratized research environments, not in hierarchical constraints. Visualizing IMPRESS in this way will not only establish it as a funding program, but as a driving force for India's intellectual and socio-economic balance.
The Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs) structure, especially via the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), has become a driving force in fostering India's startup environment. It has effectively gathered substantial local capital, aided more than 1,000 startups, and played a role in job creation as well as regional economic growth.
Every year on 7th April, global health awareness is propagated in the form of World Health Day. It is one of the 11 official global health campaigns initiated by WHO. The day is recognized by various international governments, non-governmental organizations, and other public health authorities.
The NERUDP was launched in 26 February, 2009 by the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to improve essential urban services in five capital cities included Agartala in Tripura, Aizawl in Mizoram, Gangtok in Sikkim, Kohima in Nagaland and Shillong in Meghalaya. The programme focused on enhancing the quality of life for urban residents by developing drainage systems and sanitation services, sustainable water supply systems and solid waste management systems. The NERUDP wasn’t just a development plan, it felt like a much needed lifeline that was long overdue because of the region’s hilly terrain, slower economic growth and complex social and political landscape.
India’s Midday Meal Scheme has helped educate a generation of poor school-going children and has phenomenally transformed their lives and made a huge impact on the nation’s hunger and literacy rates.
The Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) Scheme was introduced through an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955 in August 2005. OCI is an immigration status authorising a foreign citizen of Indian origin to live and work in India indefinitely. However, it does not grant the same rights and privileges as those of Indian citizens. The Indian Constitution does not provide for dual citizenship, i.e. holding citizenship of two or more countries at the same time. Therefore, OCI acts as an alternative for many foreign citizens of Indian origin.
